The main difference between mobile and studio post-op massage is where the appointment happens. A studio visit means traveling to SBS Cult in Orange, California. A mobile visit brings post-op care to an agreed home or hotel, with your location and availability confirmed individually.
Choosing between them is a practical decision about travel, usable space, privacy and timing. The setting alone does not tell you whether massage is appropriate at your recovery stage or what a session should include. Those questions still need discussion around your procedure, comfort and surgeon’s guidance.
Start with your recovery instructions
Before comparing the convenience of either setting, check the instructions from your surgical team. Ask them about massage suitability and anything that affects travel, movement, positioning or help from another person. A preferred setting should fit those instructions rather than become a reason to change them.
For liposuction specifically, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons explains that patients receive individual instructions about postoperative care, medicines, concerns to watch for and follow-up. It also advises asking the surgeon what to expect during the individual recovery period. ASPS: liposuction recovery.
Tell us about any relevant restrictions when discussing post-op care. Neither a home visit nor an appointment in Orange establishes driving clearance, assistance getting onto a table or a replacement for surgical follow-up. Confirm medical questions with your surgical team and practical visit arrangements with us.
Compare the practical tradeoffs
Both settings need an agreed appointment and a discussion of your recovery. The difference is which arrangements you need to make around the visit.
| Consideration | Studio in Orange | Mobile at an agreed home or hotel |
|---|---|---|
| Travel | Plan the journey to and from the studio. | Avoid the journey to the studio for that appointment. |
| Suitable space | No treatment area to arrange at home. | Space for a massage table must be confirmed. |
| Privacy and interruptions | Receive the visit away from household activity. | Consider who shares the room and whether interruptions can be managed. |
| Another person’s help | Arrange any needed travel or personal help separately. | Arrange any needed personal help separately; a mobile visit does not establish caregiver support. |
| Availability | Confirm a studio appointment that fits your timing. | Confirm the actual address and visit availability together. |
| Cost | Confirm the session price and account for your own travel arrangements. | Confirm the total visit price for your location. |
Privacy depends partly on the circumstances. Staying home may avoid an outing, while a shared household or hotel room may make it harder to have uninterrupted time. Attending the studio can move the appointment away from those interruptions, provided the journey works for your recovery and arrangements. Neither setting promises complete privacy or better clinical results.
If accessibility or positioning affects your choice, describe the specific concern before scheduling. Confirm the relevant studio or home access arrangements rather than assuming that a setting includes particular equipment, lifting or transfer help.
Three situations that can help you weigh the choice
These are illustrative circumstances, not medical recommendations or confirmed appointment arrangements.
You are recovering at a hotel
If you are staying locally after surgery, a mobile visit may avoid a separate trip from the hotel to Orange. It can be worth discussing when the room, property access and appointment timing can accommodate the visit. The hotel location and usable table space still need confirmation; having a room reservation does not establish mobile availability.
Keep transport from surgery, surgical follow-up and any overnight or personal assistance arranged separately. Bringing a massage appointment to the hotel does not settle those needs.
Repeated appointment trips are difficult to arrange
If your care discussions lead to several visits, compare the travel arrangements for each studio appointment with the arrangements for visits where you recover. Mobile may reduce repeated trips when the location, space and timing work. Ordinary Mobile can involve one visit or several; several visits do not automatically become a Concierge program.
If you want an agreed program with scheduling and support coordination across visits, discuss Private Recovery Concierge. The distinction is the agreed program and coordination, rather than a promise of different clinical results.
Your home has limited space or is shared
If a table cannot be accommodated or the available room is regularly shared, the studio may be a more practical setting. It avoids organizing a treatment area at home and can separate appointment time from household activity.
That choice still depends on whether travel and positioning fit your surgeon’s instructions and whether any needed assistance is arranged. Discuss access concerns before choosing; a studio appointment does not itself resolve them.
Compare confirmed arrangements as well as starting prices
At SBS Cult, Private In-Studio Recovery sessions start at $140, and Private Mobile Recovery sessions start at $180. These regular starting rates do not specify a duration or identical inclusions. Confirm the proposed session’s scope and price before comparing your options. Our Post-op Care page describes both settings.
The separate $125 introductory offer is only for a new client’s first in-studio 60-minute recovery session. It excludes repeat visits, mobile care, Concierge programs and tattooing. The 60-minute duration belongs to that offer; it does not establish the length of a regular studio or mobile session.
Mobile is for post-op care only. We travel mainly within Orange County, with other locations considered individually. We confirm your location, availability and total visit price before scheduling. The $180 starting amount is not a final quote for every address, and the two listed starting rates do not establish a fixed mobile surcharge for equivalent sessions.
For Private Recovery Concierge, a private consultation is required to agree a multi-visit in-home program, scheduling and support coordination. Consultation can cover priority scheduling and whether after-business-hours access can be arranged. Specific support, inclusions and access are agreed individually; these features do not promise guaranteed appointment windows, 24-hour availability, nursing or caregiver coverage. Concierge pricing is by consultation.
Choose a setting, then confirm the visit
Share your procedure, recovery stage, relevant surgeon guidance, preferred setting and timing with us. If you prefer Mobile, give the address where you will actually recover. If you prefer the studio, raise any travel, access or assistance questions that could affect attending.
Once the setting is agreed, confirm the visit details, scope and total price. You can then prepare for the particular appointment rather than arranging a room or transport around an unconfirmed request. The related guides below cover home or hotel preparation and the first post-op appointment in more detail.
Keep medical concerns with your healthcare provider. NCCIH advises against using massage to postpone assessment of a medical problem and recommends discussing uncertainty about massage suitability with a healthcare provider. Choosing a different appointment setting does not remove that need. NCCIH: massage therapy.
Use the Post-op Care page to discuss studio or mobile arrangements. An appointment request starts that conversation; the visit remains subject to confirmation.
